My latest 3D model: The Arch Superhero

I’m creating this guy using a tutorial from Digital Tutors. The concept is to make this guy very stylized. He’s got hard, sharp body lines in the style of a Pixar character. It’s still very rough. I hope to find time to really throw some detail on him soon.

My latest 3D model: severed monster head

It’s unfortunate, but I’ve been swamped with so many things that I haven’t had the time to properly finish any of the previous 3D models. This one is no exception. As stated in the title this is a severed monster head. It’s a part of a much larger tutorial project. Of course the instructor on the video does all of this with so much ease it’s actually discouraging to me. I’ll soldier on though.

I’m at a stand still on my “Starving African Man” 3D model. I’m currently waiting to get my Wacom tablet back to do the final detailing. Using a mouse is simply frustrating. So I started on another base model. This is a few hours of work. I really need that Wacom tablet!

Starving African man: Early Stages

I’ve worked very sparsely on this 3D model over the last week or so. Currently the character looks like a rather health middle aged man, but I’m in the process of adding extra ugly to him. Zbrush is awesome! I’m using the “ZBrush Character Creation” tutorial that I recently bought. It’s a PDF, so it’s taking me a little longer to follow along. I’ve always had trouble shaping the lips, and I got frustrated. I stopped working on it for a few days.

Backup 2.0

I’m pretty sure that I posted my experience on backing up my WordPress based web site. For some reason, it didn’t seem to show up here. Maybe I posted it in another forum. Oh well.

The backup experience was fairly easy. At first I tried using a program called “wpBackup”, but it proved to be too complicted for the task. I had installed it about two months ago. Just recently I installed the much better “WP-DBManager”. This program is simplicity itself. Its feature set is very acommidating. It now have the app backup my daTo tabase locally on server, and email me a copy to Gmail account.

As for the other files, I just transfer them back to my laptop every week or two. That’s about it.

I finally have this under control.

Thankfully I seem to be remembering quite a few things that I had forgotten. I think in the next few days I should have complete integration with Dreamweaver, then I’ll really be able to finesse things. Or so I think. We shall see…
